Larry Ellis, DVM

Dr. Larry Ellis, veterinarian at Abilene Veterinary Clinic in Abilane TXDr. Larry Ellis is East Texas born and bred. He graduated from Troup High School in 1969 as class Salutatorian. In 1971, he entered Texas A&M University, which began a full and celebrated college football career. He lettered in football during the 1971, 1972, and 1973 seasons; was Letterman President in 1973 and 1974; Team Captain in 1974; given the Aggie Heart Award by Coach Emory Bellard; and included in some of the All-Southwest Conference teams of 1973 and the All-Academic Team, and All-Decade Aggie Team..

In 1974, Dr. Ellis graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and immediately applied to veterinary school at Texas A&M University's College of Veterinary Medicine. While awaiting the selection of the next class he coached football and taught at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, Texas. He was selected to join the next veterinary school class and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1978.

After graduating veterinary school, Dr. Ellis joined the staff of Abilene Veterinary Clinic and has practiced here ever since. He has served the Abilene community in numerous capacities, which includes President of the Abilene Zoo from October of 1988 until October of 1991. He currently serves as the district representative to the Texas Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Ellis' hobbies include golf, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his children Lauren, Jet and Jourdan and granddaughter Isla. He also has three dogs named Sandy, Beau, and Tex as well as a prima donna cat named Ella.
